Why AR + sync feels different

Pure VR has an unstated cognitive overhead. Your real body is in your real room, holding a real toy in your real lap. The headset shows you a virtual environment where the actor exists. Your brain has to bridge those two contexts and treat them as one. Most users learn to do this seamlessly, but the bridging always costs a bit of presence.

Pairing Kiiroo + Quest 3 step-by-step

  2. Power on the toy. Hold the central button until it enters Bluetooth pairing mode (LED flashes blue on most Kiiroo devices).
  3. Open FeelConnect on Quest 3. Tap "Pair Device." The Quest scans for nearby Bluetooth toys. Your Keon (or other) appears in the list within ~10 seconds.
  4. Tap to connect. The LED on the toy switches from flashing to solid blue. FeelConnect shows "Connected" status with the toy's name.

The calibration step most guides miss

FeelConnect lets you set a "stroke range" β€” the minimum and maximum positions the toy will move to during a scene. The default range is the full stroke, which sounds right but usually isn't.

Why it matters: AR scenes typically have funscripts authored at slightly more conservative pace and amplitude than equivalent VR scenes, because the closer perspective AR encourages makes full-stroke movements feel more aggressive. If you set the toy to maximum range and play an AR funscript, the toy may feel disconnected from what you're watching β€” the toy is doing aggressive movements while the actor is doing intimate close-quarter ones.

Recommended calibration for AR sessions:

  • Open FeelConnect β†’ Stroke Range.
  • Set minimum to 10% (not 0%). Most AR funscripts don't use the very-low end.
  • Set maximum to 75% (not 100%). Most AR funscripts don't push the upper limit either.
  • Save the calibration. FeelConnect remembers it for next session.

For VR sessions you'd typically use 5–95% or full range. AR is different.

Scene selection: what funscripts work in AR

Not every AR scene has a funscript. And not every funscript is AR-tuned. Look for:

  • AR-specific funscript tag (some studios annotate this explicitly). SLR Originals does; most others don't yet.
  • Single-actor POV close-up scenes β€” these have funscripts that match what your eye is doing most closely.

Session flow

  1. Power on Quest 3 + toy.
  2. Open FeelConnect on Quest 3 β€” confirm toy connection (blue LED solid).
  3. Important: open FeelConnect BEFORE Heresphere. The connection handoff works in this order, not the reverse.
  4. Launch Heresphere.
  5. Browse passthrough scenes with sync-ready filter, pick one.
  6. Heresphere detects the funscript and confirms toy sync. A small icon appears in the player.
  7. Set scene position in your physical room. Lock the anchor.
  8. Start playback. Funscript drives the toy; passthrough shows the actor in your space.

Common problems

Toy connects then disconnects mid-session.
Almost always Bluetooth interference. Move other 2.4 GHz devices (Wi-Fi routers on 2.4 GHz, microwave ovens) away from your session area. Or move closer to where the headset's Bluetooth radio is β€” usually the right temple.
Funscript plays but toy doesn't respond.
Heresphere's sync toggle is off. Open the in-scene settings, find "Sync toy," confirm it's enabled. The toggle resets to off on some scenes by default β€” annoying but easy.
Toy responds but feels out of sync with the scene.
Adjust the latency offset in FeelConnect (Settings β†’ Latency Offset). Default is 100ms. Try 50ms or 150ms to find what matches your perception. Some Bluetooth stacks have higher intrinsic latency than others.
Stroke feels too aggressive or too gentle.
